Jackie’s House

This gorgeous little three-storey townhouse stands on the main cobbled street in the picturesque seaside town of Stromness. It is perfectly formed and offers luxury and quirky accommodation for couples or individuals.

Off the street and through a bright red door, the entrance porch is the ideal place to offload boots and coats before cosying up by the stove in the living room. White walls and painted grey woodwork are the perfect backdrop for the large collection of local artwork.

A comfy leather sofa and sumptuous upholstery in blues and greys make this room an excellent place for a night in front of the TV or with your head in a book borrowed from the bijou staircase library.

Up the stairs from the living room you will find the spacious kitchen-diner. With windows on three aspects, this bright and airy room is a lovely place to eat or to grab a cup of fresh coffee or a large G&T while watching the world go by from the streetview window. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up a storm using Orkney’s fresh local produce, bake a cake or feast on a smorgasbord of loveliness from the local deli just 100 metres up the road.

Up the next flight of stairs and past the staircase library is the bedroom. A deluxe double bed, immaculate linens and a superb mixture of feather and synthetic bedding make lazy mornings a must. The low ceilings on the top floor add to the quirkiness off this lovely home.

Jackie’s House has a large WC on the middle floor and a luxury ensuite shower room on the top floor. Oversized heated towel rails keep everything toasty warm. Luxury, oversized towels, cosy fleece dressing gowns and Scottish fine soaps finish off this little piece of holiday heaven nicely.

Jackie’s House does not have a private outside space, but wild landscapes, beach walks or strolls past the boats in the harbour are right on the doorstep.
